Downtown Lancaster Winter Carnival – Saturday December 6th

Visit with Santa at his new house on Main Street, craft market, beautifully decorated Christmas trees, participate in the 90.9 cookie bake-off, and fun activities such as cookie decorating, ornament making, and children’s crafts (most of which are free). The Lancaster Holiday Handmade Market will be going on all weekend at The Lodge In Lancaster, LLC. Don’t forget to look for the elf hiding in participating business. Be sure to stamp your passport each time you find an elf and you will be eligible for our drawing! Enjoy the Tour of Trees in the Chamber of Commerce office, 18 artificial trees are decorated by businesses, organizations and groups and then donated to a family in need of holiday cheer. Trees are also located in participating downtown businesses. Hundreds will join us for a great day Downtown, and we hope you will be one of them!

Downtown Lancaster Annual Tree Lighting – Saturday December 6th

Join Destination Downtown Lancaster and the Lancaster Parks and Recreation Department for the official Downtown Lancaster Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, December 6th. Enjoy a performance by the Singing Gales of Lancaster, visit with Santa, free cookies and hot chocolate, and help countdown and light up the community Christmas tree. This is a family friendly and free event. Music begins at 5:45pm and the ceremony begins at 6pm.

Make this year’s holiday memorable with a ride on Santa’s Special Train and the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway! On-board you’ll enjoy Christmas poems and festive music. Santa Claus boards the train and visits with each child as the train traverses the countryside.  There’s also a special treat from Mrs. Santa for each child.

Train dates: Every Saturday and Sunday for four weeks starting in December. Trains depart on Saturdays at 11am, 2pm and 6pm. Trains depart on Sunday at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.

Mayor Michael B. Coleman invites you to celebrate the holiday season and Grand Illumination of Bicentennial Park and the Scioto Mile. Enjoy traditional carols, a custom light show choreographed to seasonal music, and a special appearance by Santa! In the spirit of giving, support the Empty Bowls project by purchasing a piece of handcrafted pottery and receive a bowl of hearty chicken and dumpling soup compliments of Milestone 229.
