Team Member: Zach Hahn

15585169105_0859488f89_zToday we are talking with one of our newest Team Members and Sales Professional, Zach Hahn.

Zach has been in the sales profession for the last year and just made the switch to automotive sales earlier this month.  Zach calls New Lexington home and has for most of his life and absolutely loves vehicles.  It does not matter if they are old muscle cars, trucks or motorcycles; if it has an engine and been taken care of Zach likes it.  If you have a classic or maybe something a little unique swing by and give Zach a chance to take a look, he would love the opportunity to talk to you about it.

In his free time Zach likes to be outside enjoying the great outdoors riding his motorcycle ( A Honda of course!), hiking a backwoods trail, playing golf or just lounging by the pool.   He loves to travel and hopes to get to Europe and Australia in the near future.  To date his favorite destination has been Colorado.  He had the opportunity to stay on the side of the world famous Pikes Peak and had one of the most fabulous views in the world. 15398558639_bd6e39f33d_z

One of Zach’s other hobbies is Grilling.  When Zach was younger his family had sit down dinners together almost every night and this was something that Zach remembers fondly.  At these dinners grilled food was something that was on the menu a lot.  He says that his father was very influential in his love of grilling and family dinners are still something he treasures as he gets older.   Grilled chicken is his go-to dish with his own secret marinade.  If you see him at the dealership and you ask really nice maybe he will share his secret with you.

When the weather forces Zach inside you can find him in front of his Netflix account catching up on movies or shows that he has missed.  When a new movie comes out and you need a review come get Zach he is a bit of a movie junkie!

One of the most unique things about Zach is his ability to solve the Rubik’s Cube fast and we mean FAST!  He recently found his old cube and decided to bring it into work and he uses it when his brain needs aIMG_0897[1] little jolt; a bit of brain boost if you will.   He gets a little nervous on camera but take a look at his Rubik’s Cube skill and let us know on Facebook or Twitter if you have every been able to solve one or if you ever got so mad at one that you had to “put it down”.

Honda Brand Fluids: Are They Necessary?

servicesaturdayPut the Right Fluids in Your Honda for Maximum Reliability!

Honda Genuine Oils and Fluids is where pure performance begins.

Your Honda is built for performance and solid dependability. An integral part of keeping it that way is using new Honda Genuine Vital Fluids at factory recommended intervals.

Over time, fluids lose essential protective properties, and waiting too long between changes can lead to mechanical damage and costly repairs. Honda Genuine Motor Oil, Antifreeze/Coolant, Brake Fluid, Automatic Transmission Fluid and Power Steering Fluid are specially formulated to protect your Honda’s mechanical components from harmful deposits, rust, corrosion and oxidation. Please check the maintenance schedules in your owner’s manual for recommended fluid change intervals.

Honda Genuine Automatic Transmission Fluid

Most people don’t stop to think about the fluid in their automatic transmission. The truth is that fluid in their automatic transmission has a direct impact on how well their transmission shifts, how smoothly it performs, and how long the transmission lasts. Transmission fluid also has a direct impact on your Honda’s fuel economy. Honda Genuine Automatic Transmission Fluid has been thoroughly laboratory-tested, and is specifically formulated to meet the needs of Honda vehicles. It uses the finest ingredients that deliver the ideal friction properties for efficient shifting, economical transfer of power, and a smooth ride with exceptional performance.

Honda Genuine Antifreezepoweredbyhonda

All-Weather Protection. All Honda Performance.

When you’re driving in extreme temperatures, the last thing you need is engine failure. Whether in extreme heat or cold, Honda Genuine Longlife Blue Antifreeze/Coolant provides long-term corrosion protection to all metal and non-metal parts of your Honda’s cooling system and protects against boil over and freezing. Honda Genuine Longlife Blue Antifreeze/Coolant is the only coolant designed specifically for Honda vehicles. Its pre-mixed formulation is so advanced, no coolant service is required for up to 10 years or 120,000 miles. Use Honda Genuine Longlife Blue Antifreeze/Coolant for optimum long-term engine performance.

genuinehondaHonda Genuine Brake Fluid

Performs well under pressure.

You put your foot on the brake pedal and the vehicle slows. Sounds pretty simple, doesn’t it? The fact is, your Honda’s braking system experiences significant stress, especially in stop-and-go traffic. Over time, the brake fluid it uses can become contaminated, or simply lose its effectiveness. That’s why Honda recommends replacing brake fluid every three years with Honda Genuine Brake Fluid. Specially formulated to work with Honda braking systems, Honda Genuine Brake Fluid contains moisture inhibitors that help maintain correct lubricity and fluidity in virtually any driving conditions. What’s more, its blend of top-quality ingredients is designed to maintain effectiveness for the full three-year period between recommended changes.

Honda Genuine Power Steering Fluid

Steering sounding wrong? Try the Right Steering Fluid.

Maybe it’s hard to believe that using the wrong power steering fluid is a mistake you can hear. But it’s true. An inferior power steering fluid can allow friction, and friction makes noise. With a higher viscosity than most other power steering fluids, an exclusive blend of friction modifiers and a special base oil (after all, quality starts with the basic ingredient), Honda Genuine Power Steering Fluid is formulated to counter friction effectively, and is 100% compatible with all Honda power steering system components. Help your Honda last longer and run quieter. Always insist on Honda Genuine Power Steering Fluid.

Buckeye Honda is here to take care of you and your vehicle with Genuine Honda Parts.  Call us today to set up an appointment at 740-653-7678 or reach us on our website at http://www.buckeyehonda.com.  Buckeye Honda celebrating 30 years as your Honda dealer of choice!

Halloween Driver Safety Tips

thursdayOn Halloween, your neighborhood will literally be swarming with children, and it’s your job to be sure they take their treats home safely. Trick-or-treating, a fun-filled activity that little ghosts and goblins look forward to each October, can quickly turn into a night of horror if someone is hurt.

For motorists, the scariest part of Halloween are children dressed in dark colors and in costumes that cover their eyes out walking on streets and roadways at dusk when many adults are still driving home from work.

Sadly, Halloween is a dangerous night. While excited trick-or-treaters may forget the rules of the road and be oblivious to the hazards, we, as motorists must be vigilant.

The CDC found that the number of deaths among young pedestrians (ages 5-14) is four times higher on Halloween evening than any other evening of the year.

Data from the USDOT shows that:

  • Fatal collisions between motor vehicles and young pedestrians (under 15 years of age) happen most frequently between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. — prime trick-or-treating time.
  • 84% of deaths among young pedestrians occurred at non-intersection locations (indicating children are most likely to dart and dash from mid-block into the street).

Halloween is also one of the year’s most dangerous holidays on the road due to alcohol-related crashes caused by those who drink and drive after parties and festivities. Two-thirds of all highway fatalities at Halloween are alcohol-related. Don’t even think about getting behind the wheel if you’re impaired.

Halloween driving “tricks” to keep everyone safe

To help everyone bring home treats — not tragedies — follow these tips for a safe Halloween:

  • Don’t use a cell phone while driving through neighborhoods. A single distraction could lead to a tragedy.
  • Stay well below the posted speed limit.
  • Pay attention to what’s happening on sidewalks and roadways. Watch for children darting across streets, especially between parked cars.
  • Be extra alert when pulling in and out of driveways.
  • Do not assume children can see you or are paying attention. You need to take that responsibility.
  • Drivers should also check that all lights on their car work.
  • Do not pass other vehicles that have stopped in the roadway. They could be dropping off children.
  • If you’re driving a group of children, but staying in the running vehicle at the curb, be sure to put on your hazard lights to alert other motorists.
  • And if you’re driving to a Halloween party, put that mask on after you park the car.

Parents can help motorists, too:

  • Make sure drivers can see the children. Give them flashlights and glow sticks. Dress kids in bright, reflective clothing or use reflective tape on their costumes.
  • Use makeup, rather than masks, so children have a clear, unobstructed view of their surroundings.
  • Be sure children know how to cross a street — look left, right and left again before crossing.
  • Instruct children to stay on sidewalks and to cross only at corners or crosswalks.
  • Accompany your children as they trick or treat.

Buckeye hopes everyone has a great Halloween

Test Drive: Honda Virtual Towing

testdrivetuesdayHonda is at it again and we are LOVING IT!

Virtual Towing and the future of Automotive Safety brought to the world by Honda!

Imagine if you will that you are having a medical problem while you were driving.  The steps would be to pull over to the side of the road, pull out your cell phone, contact Emergency Personnel and then wait……  In a perfect world this has a happy ending but we don’t live in a perfect world.  Now let’s look at the scenario again… The driver is not doing well, they are in a heavy traffic situation where the traffic is difficult to manage they attempt to pull over or decide to wait for an exit and before they are able to get over safely they are involved in an accident.  Another scenario might be that the road they are traveling doesn’t have a lot of traffic and is in a much more rural area, they can get to the side of the road but communicating with others has become difficult in their current state.

What if the driver was able to press an S.O.S button and then the car would automatically engage the hazard lights, slow the car and bring it to a stop.  But Wait… There’s More… Now what if the vehicle was able to send out a signal to other drivers in the area with similarly equipped vehicles and those drivers could help or at the least contact the Emergency Personnel?  OK pretty cool so far, right?  Now let’s take it one step farther and say that the good Samaritan would be able to drive in front of the driver having trouble and engage a virtual towing feature and without getting our of their vehicle they would be able to tow the vehicle of the person having trouble to the hospital or to safety.

For the whole towing procedure, the cars have to talk to each other about speed, following distance, turn signals, braking, etc. Honda showed this ability at the Intelligent Transport Systems show in Detroit recently.  Now the examples that we put out there are pretty elaborate but think of the opportunity for advanced collision avoidance if the vehicles could communicate with one another on this level.  There really are a number of applications that could make driving safer and Honda is on the forefront of making these things a reality.

We hope to see more of these advanced automotive technologies in the coming years and we promise to bring you up to date information as it becomes available.  Just think only a couple of years ago Honda Lane Watch, Back-up Cameras, and advanced navigation systems were just new thinking and today are available in many of the vehicle that Buckeye Honda sells as standard equipment.

Jan Is Back In The Drive!

BUckeye Honda Service

BUckeye Honda ServiceToday on Team Member Monday we are talking about one of our absolute favorite Buckeye Honda Associates, Jan Hawthorn.  To know Jan is to love her, she is truly one of the “Good Guys (Gals)”.

So before we get started you might be asking yourself… didn’t I just talk to Jan on the phone when I was setting my last service appointment?  Didn’t I see her when I was there a month or two ago?  So did she leave and come back or am I confused? …. Well you are not confused, Jan didn’t leave Buckeye Honda just changed roles for a little while.  You see Jan is the consummate professional and always a team player so when we needed someone to fill in on the service drive Jan was there to take care of business.

Some of you might remember that Jan was originally one of our service advisers, checking in clients, listening to concerns and helping10734717086_8303b870ba_m make sure your vehicle was well taken care of.  She was so great at what she did that when we needed someone with loads of knowledge and a super friendly voice to help people over the phone, Jan was the perfect choice.

Jan, one of the nicest people you will ever meet, resides in Thornville with her daughter Lindsay, husband Jeff and their two Corgi’s – George and Riley!  In her free time Jan enjoys relaxing, spending time with her family and friends and reading.  One of Jan’s favorite books is Customers for Life… and she brings this philosophy with her to work everyday.  Jan will do her best to give you top-notch service and attention with a warm and welcoming attitude personality… CAUTION… You might just want to be one of her “Customers For Life”!

8656810596_219df647de_mOne of Jan’s other enjoyments is traveling and her favorite “out of this world” destination was Belize.  Jan is a Breast Cancer Survivor since 2009 and when going through her treatment, she found a picture that she would imagine being at when things were tough…. this place was Belize.  Through some extraordinary events, Jan got the opportunity to visit her “special spot” and has been in love with it ever since.

Jan would love to have you bring your vehicle into Buckeye Honda and promises to give you the genuine customer service that Buckeye Honda and Jan Hawthorn are known for.   The service department is open Monday through Saturday with extended hours (7pm) Monday – Friday to serve you better.  You can make a service appointment using the online service tool or call toll-free at 1-866-822-7485.
