It’s the beginning of September and as far as we’re concerned, fall is well on its way – Labor Day Weekend usually signifies the rounding out of the summer season. Although the temperatures may not agree with us just yet here at Buckeye Honda and Toyota, we’re ready to help you prep your vehicle for the upcoming season! This is especially important if you’re planning on taking your used car out-of-town to see the changing colors of autumn or to visit family for holidays; in order to have a safe and efficient journey, you need to give your car certain tools. Our Lancaster Toyota and Honda Service Centers are here to help!
Fall weather means shorter days, cooler temperatures, more precipitation, and slippery roads when the foliage starts to leave the trees. Prep your Lancaster used car to take it all on with these simple tips!
Check your tires. Like we said, falling leaves and rainy weather can make it tricky when you take your used car out on the roads. Make sure you have the traction you need to stay safe – have our Toyota and Honda techs check your tires to make sure they’re properly inflated and have enough tread on them for maximum grip!
Make sure your headlights are in good condition! You should always use your headlights when driving in the rain, as it provides you with better visibility and lets other drivers see you better, too. However, you’ll also want those headlights in good working condition as the days get shorter and you find yourself in the dark on your evening commute home, or if you face any foggy mornings on your way into the office!
Take a close look at your windshield wipers. It tends to get a bit rainier in the fall. Be sure that your used car has a set of wipers that can handle the wet weather – if they’re just smearing water around on your windshield, they’re not going to do you much good. Get a new set at our Buckeye Honda and Buckeye Toyota parts store and have our techs install them for you for free!
Double check your defroster and heat, especially if you’re taking a road trip into colder climates! You definitely want your car to have a working defroster to give you the maximum visibility you need for a safe trip!
You might also want to give your car a solid wash and wax – wax will protect your car from excess moisture (which can cause rust if left too long) and any salt and snow that might be on the roads come winter. Give your used car a little TLC! Our professional detail department can handle this for you if you don’t have the time, just give us a call and we can set it up for you.
