Downtown Live! – Downtown Lancaster – Friday, September 5, 2014

firstmonthDowntown LIVE! is a new event this year as Destination Downtown Lancaster works with downtown businesses to coordinate special events in the businesses the first Friday of each month.

Different businesses (including restaurants, shops and museums) will choose to participate during different months and have different offerings such as live music, discounts, exhibit openings, along with a variety of entertainment options. This is your opportunity to take advantage of the best that Downtown Lancaster has to offer on one great night.

Saturday Cinema On The Square – Downtown Lancaster – Saturday, September 6, 2014

Free Double Feature this Saturday in Downtown Lancaster.  Starting at 8pm with the smash hit – The Lego Movie and then classic E.T. starting at around 10pm.  Bring the family out Saturday for 2 great movies and a great time in the Downtown Lancaster!  Free children’s activities begin 1-hour before the first movie.  Snack concessions available.  Bring a chairs, blankets and snacks (space reserved in front for blanket only legomovieseating).

Steampunk Spectacle September 5th and 6th – Athens Ohio

The Steampunk Spectacle is in it’s second year and it has added a second full day! Are you a Steampunk? Enamored of the fiction, fashion and fun of this offbeat trend?

On Friday, September 5th, ARTS/West will be opening it’s doors at 5pm for the Steampunk Spectacle Gallery show from artists across the globe. At 7pm there will be Steampunk themed performances, including dances and music. There will also be vendors showing off their Steampunk wares.

On Saturday, Sept. 6th, experience playful reinterpretations of Victorian social customs and clothing, scientific speculation, and inventive gadgets at our festival’s presentations, workshops, and social amusements all presented at the Athens Public Library from 10am-5pm. Costumes and accoutrements encouraged! (Registration is required for workshops. Please call 740-592-4272 or visit the Athens Public Library to register. Registration will begin one week prior to the Spectacle.)

RHYTHM ON THE RIVER – Bicentennial Park/Downtown Columbus Sept 5th

Critically-acclaimed vocalist Helen Welch joins the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Byron Stripling, for their debut performance in Bicentennial Park. Byron, the Blues & All That Jazz travels through jazz masters Scott Joplin and Jelly Roll Morton, blues legends B.B. King and Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson, and wraps up with the ever-charming Helen Welch. With entertaining vignettes about the music and its creators, plus a finale that closes out with an unforgettable, toe-tapping jam session, this high-energy show is not to be missed!

Columbus Crew Hosts Chivas USA – Sunday, Sept 7th at 3:00pm 

It’s a new era in Columbus Soccer and The Crew is working hard to make the playoffs.  They take on Chivas USA at the best soccer stadium in the entire league.  Come out and cheer on the home team and see what the hype is all about!
