This weekend we celebrate Independence Day! Let Freedom Ring and Light The Fireworks! Here are some local events happening this weekend to give you some ideas. No matter what you do have fun and be safe!

Location: Downtown riverfront
Hours: Wednesday 10 a.m.-midnight. Fireworks begin at 10 p.m.
The biggest and best Independence Day fireworks celebration in the Midwest will be fired from Veterans Memorial in downtown Columbus. Enjoy great food, live music on five stages and fireworks at the annual celebration of Red, White & Boom!
Other activities include:
Independence Parade starting at 6PM: With more than 70 entries Central Ohio’s largest Independence Day Parade will step off at 6 p.m. on the Main St. Bridge. The parade will march east on Main St., turn north on Front St., and disband at Spring. St.
Children’s Park starting at Noon until 8PM: Children’s Park is celebrating it’s fourth year at the corner of Neil Ave. and Long St. This area will feature interactive activities for kids of all ages including: COSI on Wheels, carnival games, inflatables, face painters, balloon twisters and MORE!
Taste of Boom: Nationwide Blvd. will kick-off Taste of BOOM! at 3 p.m. This street, closed-off from Front St. to Neil Ave., will highlight fare from Columbus’ top restaurants, include two stages featuring the best local entertainment, and offer a great view of the fireworks.

The Lancaster-Fairfield County Fourth of July parade will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The parade will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Amusement rides, concessions, and entertainment will be at the fairgrounds from 12:30 until 10 p.m. The annual Hot Dog Eating Contest will take place in front of the midway stage in the afternoon. The fireworks display will be held at 10 p.m.

Pickerington Fireworks – Victory Park
The Pickerington Independence Day Celebration is held on July 4th in Victory Park. A number of children’s rides and a large variety of food and refreshment booths open at 4:00 pm. The annual parade, with over 100 entrants, move along Lockville Road, Columbus Street, and Hill Road at 6:00 pm, followed by ceremonies in the park at 7:30 pm. Entertainment is then featured, leading up to an impressive fireworks display at 10:00 pm.
Saturday Cinema is held the first Saturday of every month starting in May and running through September. The movie screen is located at the Bandstand (corner of Main and Broad st) in Downtown Lancaster, Ohio (map). Movies begin at dusk and snack concessions will be available. Bring a blanket, chairs & snacks; There will be a special area reserved for those sitting on a blanket in the front! Free children’s activities one hour before the movie begins so come early and enjoy the great evening.

International Irish rock band Flogging Molly will return to Crew Stadium for the second year in a row to play a full set following the Crew’s match vs. the Portland Timbers. Flogging Molly drummer George Schwindt and manager Gary Schwindt are Columbus natives and have been season ticket holders of the Crew for the last six years.
Your ticket gets you a great night of soccer and then a concert featuring Flogging Molly. There are VIP tickets available that allow on field concert experience. If you are not familiar with Flogging Molly check out the video below, they are a high energy party. You won’t be disappointed!
