Team Member Monday: Dan Marchi

Dan Marchi Buckeye Honda, Lancaster Ohio.Dan Marchi isn’t just one of the Business Managers for Buckeye Honda in Lancaster Ohio, he is a golf playing, husband, father, grandfather with a secret love of cigars!  OK maybe it is not much of a secret but everything else is true!

Dan has been with The Buckeye Family of Dealerships since January 2005 as a Business Manager for both Buckeye Honda and Buckeye Nissan.  Being a Business Manager for Buckeye is “a great job” says Dan.  Dan goes on to say that “Every day is different and being able to work with all of the clients and the other members at Buckeye have made this more than just a job.”  Some would see Dan’s daily duties to be a little boring and mundane,  with all of the paper work that he has to deal with but not Dan. “This is the best position in the dealership because I get to see all of the people who are getting a new car!”  he goes on to say “The best is when someone is getting their very first New or “New to them” vehicle.  It is really exciting, they are smiling so big and excited it is a little contagious; I am not getting a new car but I get excited and am so happy for them.”

When Dan is not at work you can find him typically in one of two places; Spending time with his family or on the golf course.  “One of my favorites isdanm2 when I can golf with my family – then I get the best of both worlds.”  Dan makes his home in Pickerington Ohio with his wife Roberta, an elementary school teacher at St Pius Catholic Schools.  Dan says the best time of his life is when he married Roberta, “she is the light of my life.”  The birth of his three children ranks as some of the most memorable moments in his life.  Dan has a daughter, Stephanie and two sons, Danny and John.  Dan and Roberta have one grandchild, Andy and Andy has a cousin on the way this summer!  The grandparents are extremely happy that their family is growing and take every chance they can to visit their children and grandchildren.

To say that Dan likes Golf is like saying Willy Wonka kind of likes chocolate.  Dan is an avid golfer, with an all-around game.  “When I was younger I was a scratch golfer but now I am content with being under 80.”  He is still as competitive as ever  but he also takes the time while out on the links to enjoy nature and reflect on what a great life he has.  Dan hits Titleist Pro-V1 balls and he is pretty adamant about this stating “I have played others brands but with these I have a certain comfort level that I just can’t explain, I know where the ball is going and I love the feel of the ball as it leaves the club.”   Although Dan loves to play golf whenever and wherever he can he says that “Cumberland Trail in Pataskala, Ohio is my favorite.  They have the best greens of any public golf course in the Columbus area.”

Dan Marchi Buckeye Honda Columbus OhioWhen Dan is not on the golf course or at Buckeye he likes to unwind with a nice beverage on the back deck grilling out for the family or just sitting and enjoying his favorite cigar.  Get the man a Coors Light and some shrimp and you will be in his favor for quite some time.  (Check our Foodie Friday May 10th when our Chef gives you his favorite grilled shrimp recipe).  Dan is also famous for his spaghetti and meatballs that take all day to make, “growing up in an Italian family, pasta was a big part of my childhood and for me being able to make my sauce is part of keeping that  family tradition going.”
