How about a FREE Night at the Movies Featuring Disney/Pixar’s Brave!
This Saturday kicks off Saturday Cinema in Downtown Lancaster. Saturday Cinema is held the first Saturday of every month starting in May and running through September. The movie screen is located at the Bandstand (corner of Main and Broad st) in Downtown Lancaster, Ohio (map). Movies begin at dusk and snack concessions will be available. Bring a blanket, chairs & snacks; There will be a special area reserved for those sitting on a blanket in the front! Free children’s activities one hour before the movie begins so come early and enjoy the great evening.

Maybe Your Kid Has A Need… A Need For Speed!
Lancaster Soap Box Derby of Southeast Ohio is hosting the Annual Fun Run on Saturday from Noon until 3:00 pm at Derby Downs. This event will be held weather permitting and anyone age 7 to 17 is welcome to come on out, get into a soap box derby car and experience the thrill of the hill. There will be a super kids division for children with handicaps and disabilities. They use a two-person car and an experienced driver gets them safely down the hill. The local race is coming up quickly and there are still slots (and loaner cars) available. Registration packets and raffle tickets will be available at both events. Hope to see you there!!! Marbles! Marbles! Marbles!
The final Marble training session and registration event for children 7 through 14 year of age will be held Saturday May 4th from 10:00 am until Noon at The Ohio Glass Museum and Glass Blowing Studio. The Ohio Glass Museum is offering an opportunity for children ages 7-14 to participate in a county-wide Marbles Tournament. One winning boy and girl from the local tournament will be eligible to compete in the National Marbles Tournament to be held in Wildwood, New Jersey June 16th thru 22nd, 2013. Singer-Songwriter Joe Pug w/ Joshua P. James (of the Paper Planes) and Lancaster’s own Dying Breed.
It has been said (Washington Post) that Joe Pug is the best thing to happen to the singer-songwriter genre in a while. Pug is an up-and-coming artist and has been featured in prominent music festivals such as SXSW (South by Southwest), Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and the Newport Folk Festival. Paste Magazine said “Unless your surname is Dylan, Waits, Ritter or Prine, you could face-palm yourself to death trying to pen songs half as inspired as the 10 tracks on Joe Pug’s debut full-length release.”
Joe Pug will be performing at Ohio University – Lancaster, Wagner Theatre on Saturday, May 4th. the show starts at 8pm with a parking lot pre-concert featuring Lancaster’s own Dying Breed. After an April premiere in New York City, the actors, musicians, and theatre artists from the world-renowned Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) will come to Columbus to perform an exclusive engagement of its production of Julius Caesar. Interpreted with a new twist by the RSC’s new artistic director Gregory Doran, the production is set in present-day Africa with a cast of highly acclaimed, black British actors and live, contemporary West African music composed for the show by Akintayo Akinbode. The production opened to five-star reviews in the UK last year, the Columbus run is the production’s only North American engagement following its New York City premiere in April.
